Happy 800th Birthday Magna Carta: A Tax Revolt Against Government Abuse

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-06-15/happy-800th-birthday-magna-carta-tax-revolt-against-government-abuse
As with all historical events, you must always understand the context of the era in which an event takes place. True, King John (1166–1216) was forced to sign the Magna Carta on June 15, 1215 at the demands of the elite barons. The reason for that was rather important – the common man was not taxed, only the rich. At the core of this entire issue was a tax revolt over the abuse of government. The abuse was so profound that part of the demand included the right to trial by jury.
JOHN
John lost the war in France, and desperately needed to raise money to try to regain Normandy. The king had three main sources of income available to him: revenue from their personal lands or demesne, money raised through their rights as a feudal lord, and revenue from taxation. However, whatever revenue a king would obtain from the royal demesne was inflexible and had been diminishing gradually since the Norman Conquest. This was further reduced as King Richard I (1157–1199) sold many royal properties in 1189 for the Crusades.

great-revolt-1381
Taxation played a much smaller role in royal income at that point in time, for this was still more than 100 years from the Black Death of the 14th century that killed about 50% of the population, and resulted in wages at that time replacing serfdom. That led to the first Tax Revolt by the people in 1381.

The taxation that did exist was against the rich barons, not the common people, during the 13th century.English kings did have widespread feudal rights that could be used to generate income. One such feudal right included the scutage system, in which a cash payment to the king could help one avoid feudal military service. So if you did not want to be drafted into the military, you paid a fee to get out of it.
Magna-Carta

The king also derived income from fines, court fees, and the sale of charters and other privileges. Fines were called “amercements” and at the time, it was said that there was hardly an Englishman of substance who had not been amerced at least once a year. Magna Carta introduced the right to trial by jury, where the people decide if someone is guilty and what the fine should be. This drastically curtailed the king’s abuse of the legal system at that time.King John was very unpopular, for he had intensified his efforts to maximize all possible sources of income to regain Normandy. Contemporary commentators describe him as “Avaricious, miserly, extortionate and money minded.”
King John also used revenue generation as a way of exerting political control over the barons, which led to their revolt of 1215. Debts owed to the crown by the king’s favored supporters might be forgiven, while he would ruthlessly engage in the collection of those owed by enemies or those out of favor.
Magna Carta cut off the king’s ability to use the courts to raise money, as they are doing once again today. The demand for fines to be determined by jury was a major setback for the king’s revenue collection scheme. King John died a year after signing Magna Carta. After John’s death, the regency government of his young son, Henry III (1207–1272), reissued the document in 1216, but stripped off some of its more radical content in an unsuccessful bid to build political support for their cause.
At the end of the war in 1217, the document acquired the name Magna Carta. Henry III was forced to reissue the charter again in 1225 in exchange for a grant of new taxes. His son, Edward I (1239–1307) was also forced to repeat the exercise in 1297, agreeing to sign it in return for taxes. By this time, Magna Carta became a part of England’s statute law.
From a cyclical perspective, Magna Carta was signed on June 15, 1215 (1215.454). If we add the two main frequencies 51.6, we get to 1989.454, which marked the collapse of Communism in China and Russia, while the volatility frequency 72 brings us to 2009.854 – the major low and the start of the Sovereign Debt Crisis.
If we take the 224 year frequency that picked 1999.454, which is the low in gold and the turn in the economy, as well as when Britain sold off a part of its gold reserves making the low. If we add the 37.33 year Monetary Crisis Cycle that also produces 1999.384, confirming the major turn economically.It certainly appears that Magna Carta was an important turning point in history, for it lines up cyclically with critical modern turning points. This tends to support that we are indeed in a period of rising government abuse once again.

Pastor Steven Grant: National Security, Immigration and God: Immigration is a major issue to God. One of the sins God lists in Hosea 7:8-10 is the sin of allowing the stranger to enter and devour the strength of the land - As Christians, we must stand against the wicked policies and lax security of our current regime in Washington, D.C. Those that will not do this first have no right to speak later about immigration policy. - Ezekiel 22:30 says, "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me, for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none." ( The choice is yours. As for me, I am standing for the land.)

National Security, Immigration and God

When Satan tempted Christ in Matthew 4, it was not a simple provocation.  The enemy distorted Scripture by focusing on an isolated issue that catered to the flesh.  Jesus countered that attack with another Scripture, but it was from a completely different standpoint.  Satan used a verse dealing with God's protection; Christ responded using the theology of presumption.

Single issue use of Scripture themes can result in unbiblical outcomes.  Common core Christianity may favor single issues because it caters to the lowest common denominator and feels good.  In reality, it may create more problems and incur God's anger.  Why?  Because we forsake the full counsel of God.

Today immigration is a hot topic among Christians in America.  The United States admits more legal immigrants annually than any other nation in the world, and yet the pressure is on to legalize illegal aliens.  Groups such as the Evangelical Immigration Table even urge this in the name of Christ.  Does that make it a noble thing to do?  No.

Immigration must be counterbalanced against other biblical issues such as national security, border control, deportation, government assistance, and assimilation, all in adherence to the Bible.  Immigrants themselves must be separated into the three categories found in Scripture.  They are:  legal immigrants, illegal aliens, and refugees.  Today groups try to obscure the truth by lumping all of these together, but God does not.  What does the Scripture say?

Legal immigrants are acknowledged more than any other group of immigrants in Scripture.  Israel and his sons came to Egypt legally in Genesis 47.  In Acts, the Apostle Paul used his legal citizenship with Rome and Israel to further the gospel.  Nearly a million legal immigrants come to the U.S. annually, and are to be warmly received according to Scripture.

Illegal aliens are also found in the Bible.  They were deported in Ezra and Nehemiah.  Jesus states in John 10 that those that do not enter by the door are thieves and robbers; there will be no illegal aliens in the Kingdom of God.  Illegal aliens and those that would not comply with God's immigration laws were condemned by God Himself.  Those that supported them were condemned, too.

Refugees are a third element found in Scripture.  They migrate due to danger, economic threat or disaster.  Elimelech and Naomi moved to Moab due to drought.  Joseph and Mary fled from Bethlehem to Egypt, taking the young child Jesus with them.  Although they were refugees, they provided for themselves.  Both of these families returned to their nation of origin after life there had stabilized.

God commands us to respect subclasses (e.g., widows, orphans and strangers) in many passages.  (Zechariah 7:10; Jeremiah 22:3, and others.)  This should be the fruit of our heart, but it is not a legislative command.  When God commands that kindness be shown to the "stranger" in passages such as Leviticus 19:33-34, this references legal immigrants.  Many refer to Christ's statement in Matthew 25:35, where he says, "For I was hungry and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in."  This passage probably deals with refugees, but more importantly deals with personal conduct of Christians; not national policy.  The needy are among us, and we should minister to them in Christ's Name.  However, bringing them into our home does not make them family, and an alien or stranger coming into the nation does not give them legal status.

The bounds of nations are set by Almighty God (Deuteronomy 32:8).  Acts 17:26 reiterates this, stating that "...God has determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitations."  God determines boundaries and where people live, not man.  Therefore, the fact that people want to come to America does not mean they should or can live here.  Hundreds of millions globally have a lower standard of living than those in the U.S.  This does not entitle them to come.  Furthermore, if they are legally enabled to relocate, they have a strict Biblical criteria that must be agreed upon.  Every Christian should push for God's policies to be enacted.  What are these criteria?
  • There are to be no special government programs for the immigrant (Leviticus 19:9-10).  Business and private citizens should be the means of ministry to incoming immigrants.
  • Immigrants are to learn and speak the language of the land (Nehemiah 13:23-25).  This standardizes business, government and society.
  • Immigrants are not to bring in abominations before God such as homosexuality, idolatry, ancestral worship or other pagan practices  (Leviticus 18:26-28).  The framework of immigration is to be Judeo-Christian in ideology.
  • Immigrants must also assimilate into Christianity as the framework of society.  The Bible is filled with commands pertaining to this, and they are best summarized by Ruth's statement to Naomi in Ruth 1:16.  "Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God."
So what must be done about immigration today?  First, we must remove the lies, half-truths and double-speak.  One common argument among Christians is that we can't have all of these things in government.  If this is true, we have given up before we try.  Furthermore, we have thumbed our noses at God, telling Him that we won't stand for what He says in His Word.  We need to repent of this lack of faith.

Another common argument is that "we are a nation of immigrants."  This is not true.  We are mainly citizens, and so were most of our parents.  Although our ancestors may have migrated here, most came legally through sites such as Ellis Island, Castle Garden and other ports of entry.  They were screened for disease, criminal backgrounds and other issues.  Those that did not meet the criteria were not accepted.  The way to America was to come by the door, modeled after the words of Jesus in John 10.  The aim of this argument is to try and weaken commitment to the law, and use emotion to distort truth.

Others say that the government is deadlocked, and something should be done about immigration.  Really?  Nearly a million legal immigrants entered the U.S. last year.  This argument is being used as a false front by groups or people that want to change laws to suit their agendas.  The fact that the White House has chosen to ignore illegal immigration and break down our borders is hated by God Himself.  This is not due to deadlock; it is a political tactic.  Every Christian and leader in America should be standing up and quoting the many Scriptures about people who try to change boundaries and God's wrath upon them.

If immigration is broken it is because Christians have forsaken God's Word.  For years the United Nations has controlled the direction of U.S. immigration and refugee policy.  We used to admit more Christians; now the Muslims pour across our borders unchecked.  Deuteronomy 28:43 tells of a curse upon the land when, "the stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high, and thou shalt come down very low."  It is time to repent and change.

Christians have also ignored God's priorities.  God's priority is to secure the border first.  Just as Jesus told Satan that the theology of presumption took preeminence over the Scripture of protection, God wants closed borders before he deals with the immigrant.  The first practical step of revival in Nehemiah was to rebuild the wall; border security.  He began with prayer and a vision to make a holy nation under God.  To accomplish this, border security came first.  Dealing with immigrants came later.

After the border is secured, illegal aliens should be deported.  Ezra 9-10 and Nehemiah 13 illustrate God's deportation policy.  Those that will not serve God, but cling to their own ways and culture must leave.  We have sinned against God by ignoring this.  God condemned the House of Israel for this in Ezekiel 44:7.  They allowed the uncircumcised in heart and body to pervert the nation.  We are already reaping what we have sown.  More than 400 thousand illegal aliens were arrested and imprisoned for crimes committed in 2012 alone.  They did not enter legally, and perpetuated that ideology inside this nation.  This cannot be tolerated.

Christian refugees and immigrants should always be welcomed.  Isaiah 55:6-7 tells us that the house of prayer shall be for all people.  Christians around the world need a sanctuary, a place of refuge.  They should be welcomed and loved above all within the USA.

Immigration is a major issue to God.  One of the sins God lists in Hosea 7:8-10 is the sin of allowing the stranger to enter and devour the strength of the land.  The House of Israel would not repent of this sin, and God judged them.  As Christians, we must stand against the wicked policies and lax security of our current regime in Washington, D.C.  Those that will not do this first have no right to speak later about immigration policy.  Ezekiel 22:30 says,  "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me, for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none."  The holes in border security had to be filled first.  Strangers and aliens were among them, destroying God's culture.  God's eyes were upon this issue first.  Then immigration could be addressed using deportation and godly immigration policies.  Will you secure the border first, or will you allow this nation to be attacked and destroyed?  The choice is yours.  As for me, I am standing for the land.

In Defense Of A Nation

A cold war is being waged against America’s sovereignty, exceptionalism, Christian heritage, and rule of law.  It is rooted in spiritual hatred for our being a nation in covenant with Almighty God.  Enemies (both foreign and domestic) are hard at work to destroy even the foundations, and soon the cold war will go hot. War is coming to America, and it's coming soon to a street corner near you.  If you want to be on the cutting edge of events as they unfold, then In Defense Of A Nation is a must-read. America is beyond the tipping point, and quickly approaching the flash point...which will come…whether you like it or not…whether you’re ready or not. You will not be allowed to sit this out.

America In The Bible

Misinformed preachers trumpet the myth that America is "mystery Babylon" today, while they gladly ask for your "Babylonish currency" to pad their coffers. They really don't believe their own lies, and neither should you. The United States of America exists by design...divine design. The Mayflower Compact, the first governing document of America, indicates we were founded "for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith." Christianity was not introduced to America from the outside in; she was founded as a Christian nation from the inside out. This sets her on a completely different plain than every other nation in the world! How did this happen? Did Christian pilgrims hit the "lucky nation" jackpot? The answers to these questions have enormous implications, and they are yours to have and share today.

In Defense Of A Nation - Abolish The IRS

Economic oppression by the elite, and weaponized agencies to enslave the people are nothing new! From Nehemiah, to 1776, to today, the only way to return liberty to the people is to destroy the oppressive financial system. With a pen and a phone, Nehemiah stuck a fork in the tax system, wrecked the economy, and restored liberty. And it worked! Maybe it's time to grab a pitchfork...

Are You Mad Yet? - Chuck Baldwin

Are You Mad Yet? http://chuckbaldwinlive.com/Articles/tabid/109/ID/2270/Are-You-Mad-Yet.aspx

Published: Thursday, December 18, 2014
In the poem, “The Masque of Pandora,” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow has Prometheus saying, “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.” Accordingly, the would-be gods in the GOP leadership in Washington, D.C., must have rank-and-file Republicans slated for destruction, because they are MAD--and for good reason.

In an open letter, long-time Republican activist, Mike Scruggs, wrote, “I have been a Republican County Chairman in both North Carolina and Alabama. I have served countless hard-working hours as a volunteer for Republican candidates.  I am therefore deeply grieved that the Republican Party leadership in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate has seen fit to betray the principles and values of a substantial majority of Republican voters, and the majority of the American people. This last week witnessed both the House and Senate passing budget bills that essentially gave Obama’s unlawful amnesty for five million illegal immigrant workers an effective pass.

“The majorities that passed this essentially special interest budget may not be bothered by conscience, but American workers and taxpayers will suffer, lawlessness will abound, and public safety and national security undermined.  Our liberty and freedoms are being traded for gold in the form of huge special interest political campaign donations.

“What kind of party leadership do we have, when they refuse to defend the Constitution, and thus allow President Obama to get away with an unlawful amnesty for at least five million illegal immigrant workers?  What kind of party leadership do we have, when they ignore the pain of over 18 million Americans who want a full time job and cannot find one? Yet GOP leaders continue to favor big business special interests that profit by flooding the labor market with foreign cheap labor, both legal and illegal. The wages of American workers have been stagnant for nearly 15 years, held down by an excess supply of foreign labor. The GOP leadership message to American workers is that the Republican Party is not concerned with them. Their message to grassroots conservatives is the same. The users of cheap foreign labor profit $437 billion a year, mostly at the expense of American workers--$402 billion annually, nearly $2,800 per year each for 147 million workers.

“According to the Heritage Foundation, the average unlawful immigrant household receives $14,387 more in government services and benefits paid than taxes paid. This will almost double with amnesty, because of more benefits. This is essentially a taxpayer subsidy to businesses using illegal immigrant labor. How long will we put up with this outrage for the benefit of big political donors. What kind of GOP leadership wants more of these injustices to American workers and taxpayers?

“Speaker of the House John Boehner did not give a pass to Obama’s amnesty and plans to double legal immigrant workers because he feared being blamed for a government shutdown. He wants amnesty so that establishment Republicans can continue to receive huge donations from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other cheap labor lobbying associations.”

Hear! Hear, Mike!

In addition, the Tea Party Patriots released a summary of the “Cromnibus” Bill just passed. It states:

{{*The bill fully funds President Obama’s illegal executive amnesty;
*The bill contains $1.1 trillion dollars in spending;
*The bill gives every federal employee a raise. That means that even the IRS employees who colluded to target tea party conservatives will receive a raise;
*The bill contains numerous crony deals, built-in bailouts, and payoffs to Wall Street, and large corporations;
*The bill continues to fund Obamacare.
|Tea Party Patriots Press Release
}}

Just as I predicted in this column, the Republican Party in Washington, D.C., has not only done NOTHING to stop Obamacare and Amnesty, it has SOLIDIFIED both into law via legislative action.

In the House of Representatives, only seventeen Republican congressmen were needed to keep the bill from going to the floor for a vote. Guess how many voted “Nay”? SIXTEEN! Had only one more Republican voted “Nay”, the bill would have been dead.

Here is the list of your sixteen Republican heroes who voted “Nay,” in the U.S. House:

Reps. Justin Amash (Mich.), Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Dave Brat (Va.), Mo Brooks (Ala.), Paul Broun (Ga.), Louie Gohmert (Texas), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Tim Huelskamp (Kan.), Walter Jones (N.C.), Jim Jordan (Ohio), Steve King (Iowa), Raúl Labrador (Idaho), Thomas Massie (Ky.), Bill Posey (Fla.), Matt Salmon (Ariz.) and Steve Stockman (Texas).

See The Hill report here:

No, my fellow Montanans, our illustrious “conservative” House member (and now U.S. Senator-elect), Steve Daines, is not on the list. He voted “Yea” to bring the bill to the floor for a vote and then voted “Nay” on final passage. Typical political flip-flopping to pass big-government spending bills while claiming to oppose them. GAG!

Had Steve Daines voted “Nay” on the first vote, the bill would have never made it to final passage. The excuse he (and the rest of the Republican congressmen who voted for the bill) will use is that they didn’t want to risk a government “shutdown.” Horse Manure! Everyone on the planet knew this bill would fund Obamacare and Amnesty. House leaders could have taken the funding for Obamacare, and especially Amnesty, out of the bill before bringing it to members for a vote had they wanted to. But the truth is, John Boehner and the rest of the GOP leadership want Amnesty as much as Barack Obama and Harry Reid do. And congressmen like Steve Daines want to stay in the good graces of establishment leaders AND their conservative constituents back home. Hence, he played the Potomac Shuffle and voted FOR the bill when his vote could have killed it, then voted AGAINST the bill when he knew his “Nay” vote meant nothing.

No matter what you hear, folks, the ONLY Republican House members who truly voted AGAINST the Obamacare/Amnesty funding bill are the sixteen champions listed above.

ARE YOU MAD YET?

When will the U.S. electorate awaken to the fact that we do not have two parties in Washington, D.C.? And when will conservative Republicans awaken to the fact that their party in D.C. does NOT represent them--and has no intentions of representing them?

At the leadership level, both Democrats and Republicans represent big-money, globalist agendas. Neither party cares a hoot in hades about their constituents--much less liberty and constitutional government.

The toll that amnesty is going to take upon this republic will be horrific. No, more than that, it will forever change the future of our country. And it won’t take long.

Yes, I’m talking about the financial burden that will be placed on the backs of taxpayers at every level of government. I’m talking about escalating crime rates. I’m talking about federally-mandated expulsion of America’s historic Christian culture. I’m talking about rising unemployment for American citizens--especially African Americans. I’m talking about an exponential growth in the numbers of people who are increasingly dependent upon the government for subsistence. In fact, all of the above is ALREADY taking place at a rapid rate.

That African Americans will be among the hardest hit by the invasion of illegals is the dirty little secret that Democrat Party leaders are NOT telling their constituents. As the percentage of Hispanics mushrooms--due to Washington, D.C.’s amnesty provisions--the percentage of African Americans will shrink just as fast. Most experts agree that by 2040, Hispanics will be the majority race in this country. Thanks to the legalization of illegal immigration facilitated by both Democrats and Republicans in D.C., this is now inevitable. It may happen sooner.

But there is one more toll that the acceptance of illegal immigration will exact on this country: the breakup of the Continental United States. This is the toll hardly anyone wants to think about, much less talk about. But, it, too, is inevitable.

Virtually everyone south of the border (and in most American university classrooms) believes that the southwestern United States rightfully belongs to Mexico. Accordingly, the animosity and hatred against America runs very, very deep. If anyone truly believes that the influx of untold millions of Hispanics will NOT eventually lead to attempted secession, they are living in a dream world.

Can one imagine what will happen in the border states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, when the Hispanic population outnumbers all others by significant percentages? For that matter, all of the southern states, including states as far north as Tennessee, are going to be in the crosshairs of La Raza-type “Reconquista.” For example, the State of Tennessee already is one of the southern states that is a favorite landing place for illegals. Just imagine how amnesty will affect states such as Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida?

Count on it: “The-Southern-United-States-Belongs-To-Us” crowd will demand and implement some sort of secession as quickly as possible. I have been saying for years that some sort of secession within the United States is inevitable.  The far-left hate group, the SPLC, and other big-government control freaks, love to claim that it is “right-wing Christian extremists” who are the ones pushing for secession. But, in the end, it will doubtless be the third-world recipients of U.S. amnesty that will be the catalyst.

One does not have to think real far off to imagine what would happen to the rest of the Continental United States should an Hispanic secession movement take shape in earnest. According to recent surveys, nearly one-fourth of the U.S. citizenry already think favorably of secession.

See this report:

And this report summarizes secession sentiments by regions:

In any kind of breakup, big-government toadies in Washington, D.C., (from BOTH major parties) would doubtless attempt to suspend the Constitution and Bill of Rights (especially the Second Amendment) in much the same way Abraham Lincoln did during the War Between the States. And, for the life of me, I cannot imagine the Rocky Mountain States (for one region) submitting to such tyranny. Let your own imagination run wild from there.

Do Big-Government toadies such as John Boehner and Harry Reid envision a Hispanic secession movement as the result of amnesty? Probably not. I doubt seriously they have that much foresight. Reid and his fellow Democrats are thinking about votes, while Boehner and his fellow Chamber of Commerce Republicans are thinking about cheap labor. And, of course, all of them are thinking about pleasing their big-money masters. However, that blanket amnesty will eventually lead to a Hispanic secession movement is inevitable. Mark my words: it is inevitable. Whether those of us over fifty live to see it is irrelevant; it is inevitable.

Remember the words of Prometheus, “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.” ARE YOU MAD YET?

Instead of waiting for an ugly Hispanic-driven secession movement, liberty-lovers within the GOP should get mad enough NOW and secede from the Republican Party, and join the millions of independents who got mad and left years ago. Even GOP-apologist Mark Levin said recently he is “inches” away from leaving the GOP.

The two-party duopoly is strangling the life and liberty out of America. If this latest betrayal by Republicans is not enough to make freedom-loving Americans realize that the “gods” in D.C., are targeting them for destruction, I doubt anything will.

SO, ARE YOU MAD YET?
